In June 2020, I launched an Instagram account called Social Media Tea. My intention was to give my marketing peers an outlet where they could anonymously spill their secrets, their frustrations, and their experiences working in social media.

During the five years that Social Media Tea existed, it grew to have roughly 25,000 followers across different social media platforms and would receive new confessions from digital marketers and content creators almost daily. For a while, there was even a fun merch shop for the account that sold snarky items that now grace the desks of marketers around the world. It was described by many as “therapy for social media managers” and a “cathartic experience for people who work online.”

In September 2025, I made the decision to officially deactivate Social Media Tea so I could focus more on my accessibility work. The account may be gone, but its sass, snark, and sarcasm will live on forever.
