When it comes to clear and inclusive communications, federal agencies and government leaders should be prioritizing digital accessibility for social media and ensuring that their messaging is reaching all of the people they were elected to represent. No one should ever be excluded from the conversation because of a physical or cognitive disability.
I urge everyone to write their local elected officials and encourage them to implement basic best practices for their social media content that makes it accessible and inclusive. Feel free to send them my accessibility checklist and the templated letter below if you're not sure what to say. If you are a U.S. citizen, you can easily find contact info for many of your government leaders on the USA Gov site.
Together, we can all make the digital world a more inclusive place for everyone.
